Home Education

HOME EDUCATION

Wednesdays and Fridays drop off sessions

This is a session for home educated children aged 5 and over. Full autonomy. Each week we have a range of activities available for the children to participate in. This includes guided nature activities such as woodwork, knot tying, fire starting, cooking on the fire, and natural arts and crafts.

Our ethos at Mud Club is to allow the children to explore nature in a supportive and nurturing environment . All activities are consent based, playful and with a hands on approach! We are always eager to hear the children's opinions about what else they would like to do at Mud Club and how we can facilitate their ideas.

The idea of booking the half term is to enable the children to settle into their visit to us each week - to grow individually as well as part of the group. We hope that together the children will come up with their learning patterns which we can support and build together. Being in nature, the children can witness the cycle of the seasons, and see how the site changes as the weeks go by. We also hope to begin ongoing projects that will evolve each week.

Ellie and Emily share a love of creating nutritious and delicious food, and are always finding new dishes to cook with the children! There is something so special about cooking on an open fire!

All practitioners that work at Mud Club are DBS checked. We have Paediatric and Outdoor First Aid Training , Safeguarding Training and food hygiene. We are also Ofsted registered.

Music in the trees – Adult and child session

ADULT AND CHILD SESSIONS

Music in the trees - Monday mornings

Every week Mud Club welcomes a musician to help us start the week off on the right note! Our resident guest musician is the fabulous Oren Marshall, however we have some other amazing artists who join us when Oren is unavailable.

Whilst Mud Club nourishes you with hot drinks and tasty food cooked on the fire, the small ones will have the freedom to make music and explore in nature. A two hour weekly musical reset in nature, for children with their adults.

Adult Mud Club

SESSIONS

Adult Mud Club

Our adult mud clubs are beautiful things. We meet together to sing, dance, craft and eat. We have had a few different practitioners joining us and each session is different and wonderful in its own way. We celebrate the seasons. In-between workshops, we will provide homemade food, special drinks, and mindful, nature based crafts to take home.

Voice Workshop - Portia will lead us in vocal exploration, connecting with our breath, voices and sounds of the forest. She has the magical ability to coax even the most reluctant participants to find their voice. Previous attendees of Portia’s workshops have described it as ‘better than therapy’ and ‘she takes you out of your comfort zone and into a new zone of comfort’.

Wreath making workshop

Seasonal Events

Wreath making workshop

We will be running some wreath making workshops in early December. We have run them for a few years now and they are so lovely! For background, in another guise I am an Interior Designer and Emily has spent much of her life in her mums garden centre. So these wreaths we help people make are pretty special and pretty natural but with a touch of class!

Friday 6th will be a beautiful adult only session with festive drinks and snacks. We will run a daytime child friendly wreath making on the 7th December.

These wreaths are made on a gorgeous elegant gold hoop which can be recycled each year.

Holiday Clubs

SEASONAL EVENTS

Holiday Club

We offer holiday club days which usually run 10-4pm in most of the school holidays. Do look out for them in our timetable as they get booked up really quickly.

There will be a range of nature based activities akin to our Saturday sessions. So great for your kids to try our Saturdays too. Natural crafts, woodwork and bushcraft will be on offer as well as a chance to help prepare and cook snacks on the open fire.

Please note that being ofsted registered means we can offer the children full autonomy of what they want to do. We believe in giving children time in nature with a bit of freedom is very important. Therefore we will never force children to partake in the activities on offer.

We do have some rules which are there purely to keep the children safe and happy and we run through these with them at the beginning of each session.
